Colonoscopy-A Love Story

Up and coming folks, stay tuned...

Hmmm

Sometimes I find the busier I am during the day the less likely I will go to bed at night.

Thinking

I recall sitting with my uncle in the emergency room for his anxiety and suicidal ideation.  The nurse questioned him about his drug use and if I recall correctly what he said wasn’t true.  Maybe it was the fact that I was in the room, or that he didn’t want to the pretty nurse to know of his shortcomings, either way his answer was not the truth.  People only share what they want to share, yet people will share more if they feel there is trust.  Most people look for help because they want to feel better.  Some go to therapy because they feel there is no one in their life that is strong enough to handle the grief that they are carrying around.  If we have people that come to see us for help, we need to be open and mindful about their whole person. If we treat them as just another case file then we are labeling and categorizing them with the papers we need to file.  When my uncle was sitting in that emergency room there was no way to look at him and tell his socio-cultural upbringing.  He was reaching out yet these people had no idea from whence he came.  They didn’t realize his struggles and the sadness that plagued him, but I did.  If and when people seek help, they are seeking help because what’s bothering them on the inside is beginning to emerge into other areas of their life such as work, social and family life.
